"This snapshot was made in Pietro Annigoni's studio in Florence, Italy. He was probably the greatest painter of this century. He painted the beautiful and celebrated picture of Queen Elizabeth II soon after her coronation. I have met and been with Annigoni several times, a most hospitable and generous man. Although, I, too, painted the Queen years later, we only once mentioned the fact that she sat for both of us. And even then, it was only perfunctory."
